Do You Know What’s in Your Breath Freshener?

Are you one of those people who constantly chew gum or pop breath freshener tablets to ensure that you don’t have bad breath? Did you ever consider how often those breath fresheners taste like mint? More than 75% of gums and breath fresheners are mint flavored. And, there’s a very good reason why.
The oils of mint, particularly spearmint and peppermint, are one of nature’s best anti-bacterials and anti-fungals. Not only do they make your mouth taste and feel clean; they can actually clean your mouth.
And, if you have bad breath, your mouth needs to be cleaned. Most bad breath is caused by bacteria in the mouth. As the bacteria sit there, they give off waste, which is basically made of sulphur. And, we all know how bad sulphur smells. So, the best way to get rid of the smell for good is to kill the bacteria and keep killing it every day. That’s why nearly all breath fresheners contain mint.
However, those traditional breath fresheners you’re popping doesn’t really contain all that much mint, so while it may help your breath temporarily, it’s not doing the best job of keeping your mouth clean. Plus, it contains either sugar or artificial sweetener, and a lot of other things that simply aren’t necessary. In fact, most mouthwashes contain alcohol, which you certainly don’t need in a mouthwash.
What you really need to clean your mouth and freshen breath naturally for the long haul is concentrated mint oil. This will give you the best anti-bacterial effect, getting right to the root of your bad breath problem. Plus, with highly concentrated mint oil, you just need a drop or two to get a good cleaning and great smelling breath.
Choosing mint oil is great for the health of your mouth as well as your bad breath. Those bacteria that are causing your halitosis are also causing plaque to build up on your teeth. Over time this plaque leads to gingivitis, bleeding and receding gums, and, eventually, serious periodontal disease. A little mint oil on a daily basis can greatly improve the overall health of your mouth.
You’ll find plenty of natural breath fresheners out there. Just be sure that you choose one that’s got a high concentration of mint oil to ensure you’re making the best natural choice for your mouth.
